I want to create an action that scales any size image to a height of 350 px. But when I record the action it sets the result as a percentage. Is there any way to resolve this?

Try Image > Size
and use 350px in the height.

I’m sorry. Rather than "image" I should have said layer. However, I did use your suggestion to work with the layer as an image in a separate file. Thanks.

Layer?

In the toolbar across the top, you can type in numbers. There is a pair that are set to % as default, but you should be able to change them to px. I tried px and it seems to work just fine for me.

I began recording the action with Ctrl+t, then I typed 350px in the height box and completed the transform. The action recorded it as a percentage. When I replayed the action on a different layer, it applied the percentage reduction.
Here is the text for the action:

Transform current layer
Center: corner
Translate: 0 pixels, 0 pixels
Width: 18.6%
Height 18.6%

Looks like a bug in Photoshop.

One workaround is to go into
Edit | Preferences | Units & Rulers
change the units to pixels,
record your action, save the action,
then change the units settings back to where you had them.

The one ation you recorded will retain the units used when recorded. —

Maybe I should ask Radio Shack. They claim they’ve got answers; but frankly, if Radio Shack were our provider, we’d _really_ be in trouble now, wouldn’t we?
