Missing Profile box

For some reason, everytime I open an image now in PhotoShop 7 for Windows, it pops up a "Missing Profile" box with the following:

The RGB document "name.ext" does not have an embedded color profile.

My options are…

– Leave as is
– Assign working RGB: sRGB…
– Assign profile:

Why did this all of a sudden start happening? More importantly, how do I get it to stop? Thanks for you help

Start using equipment that imbeds a profile…

You might want to read the manual about color settings, and see which settings you changed.

Well, that implies that I actively did something. I didn’t. At least, I don’t know that I did. I will look in that section for help though. Thanks

Your color settings got trashed. Why? I don’t know. Either that or you never before opened an image that had no embedded profile.

Go into Edit | Color Settings and make your selections (including unchecking the ‘Ask When Opening’ boxes if that’s what you want).

Better yet, if you had previously saved your color settings, simply reload them.

If you don’t know what you’re doing in Color Settings, just choose one of the factory-provided choices in the top dropdown — e.g. "Color Management Off" — for now.

Yes, you or someone on your computer did actively change something.

A computer is a tool, like anything else. Tools break, either by human intervention or a corruption of files.

There are so many situations that can break things.
