I have had the same frustrating problem.
It’s a buttbiter that’s for sure. I added a beep to my capslock using the:
Control Panel>Accessibility Options>Toggle Keys> then check >Use ToggleKeys
Now it beeps if I accidentally hit the capslock key.
Never seen this little Option before. Very cool. I just hope I can remember what I did or then I’ll be wondering what that little noise was I keep hearing.
Amy way to change the sound it makes?

JD..
you can customize all sounds in Windows XP one by one or download a different scheme and install it
sound… 2 tab…. sounds
bottom of window
highlight the one you wish to change
browse to file>select it
probably best to preload any sounds to the folder where the system ones are they are .wav format
located in windows/media
I know how to customize the sounds and I use a custom sound scheme with sounds of my choice but I do not see a place to change what I will call the CapsLock sound.
Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Sounds tab. Is it a Windows sound? It’s not the Asterisk, Default Beep, Exclamation, Question or System Notification sound.
You replied with how to change the sound. I know how to do that. Which sound is the sound of the CapsLock key as set at Control Panel, Accessibility Options,Toggle Keys, Use ToggleKeys?
