Help with layers

I am a digital imaging student. Photoshop 7, Windows.
I am lost on a project. I have two images.
Peppers
Box
I must put peppers in box
I used the quick mask to select a nice clean outline of the peppers. I dragged them into the box but they don’t look like they are in the box. Please provide me with some ways that I can make my peppers look like they are int he box, not just sitting on top.

You only want a part of the peppers, not all of them. Make your quick mask only show the parts that will show through the top, not the parts that will be inside.

(If you are where you seem to be, I bet an easier way would be to draw a rectangular marquee around the parts you want to delete, then press delete (make sure you are on the right layer).
