David,

With out a bit more info as to what the template consists of and how it is Saved in PS, I can only hazard a guess. If I were doing a template, I’d set the page layout on a Layer. Then, by adding appropriate Layers (graphics, type, objects, etc.) one could design the page around the initial layout. When done, just click the "eyeball" on the template Layer and Flatten Visible, or Flatten, and click OK when the dialog box, "Discard invisible layer" or whatever the exact sytax is.

You are then faced with the prospect of how to Save the graphic from PS. Save_For_Web would probably suffice. However, designing a Web page in PS might not be using the best tool(s) for the job. If you do wish interactivity for rollovers, buttons, etc. you can get some of that functionality by Opening the image in Image Ready.

Does the Readme with the template mention GoLive, or any other Web page design program, like Dreamweaver?

For a page comprised of a simple graphic and some rasterized text, the Layers operation should work for you.
