Xerox TFT or some other brand buying advice

Hi has anyone had any experience with the new Xerox TFT screens or know a uk shop you can see them, or any other good TFT screen.. sRGB colour space would be nice if its under £250 as I work with Photoshop a lot.

I have one. Very, very nice picture indeed.

The only criticism I have is that if you’re working on one with a bright light behind you, the light can reflect off the glass surface.

They look every bit as good in the flesh as you see on the net – even better.

I paid £150 + VAT for mine a couple of weeks ago. (17")

Your first problem is where you say "or any other good TFT screen". A good TFT screen for Photoshop costs a lot more that you are willing to pay (see, e.g. Eizo). If you work with PS a lot you need colour accuracy which you won’t get from a cheap TFT.

Sit in front of a TFT.
o Notice the colours & contrasts from the top to mid to bottom o You will notice a uniform colour sppears differently

Now tilt the TFT towards & then further away from you o Notice how the colours & contrasts change again
o For photographic work this can render TFTs useless

Colour calibration requires uniformity over the display area, something the majority of TFTs are largely incapable of doing.

The solution comes down to your work mix.
o Ergotron monitor stand & CRT for Photoshop use
—- fold or move the CRT out of the way when non-Photoshop o Ergotron monitor stand & TFT for general use
—- for non-colour palletes, email, general office/net work —- obviously colour palletes really need to be on the CRT

For the budget a CRT will provide better photo-retouching. —

Hi where did u get your TFT from for £150..
Do u know of any shops in London where i can view the monitor… as i dont want to buy something i havent seen.
