An effect that i see everywhere now ( not just on the web ) is picture that only have 2-3 colours like this one http://tinyurl.com/27v75 ca anyone point me in the right direction on how to make this in photosho

Nothing to see when I tried to open the tinyURL.

Try: Image|Adjustments|Gradient Map
from the dropdown, "Gradient Used For Grayscale Mapping," select the color combination of your choice.
PS 7.0.1.

One interesting choice is a pseudo-sepia (copper).
