could it be background processing thumbnails? there’s a prefrence for turning it off, but eventually it’ll finish and thinks should be hunky-dory.
Photoshop.exe sits at 0% CPU on both of my computers with an image up and no other actions going on.
See if the file browser is running. File browser is a severe resource hog. I don’t know what language file browser is written in, but it is slow. If I ever wrote code that performed like that, I would have been fired long ago. It almost acts like it is running an interpreted language such as java or something.
It is completely unusable for directories with more than 100 raw images, as it sits there and builds preview images of each one. Yes, I know to turn this off in preferences, but that does not make it any more usable does it?
Everyone was predicting the demise of Capture1 DSLR with CS’s RAW, but after having used CS’s RAW for about a month, Capture1 doesn’t have anything to worry about for a while. At least until Adobe gets their act together re: CS’s performance, exif inadequacies and remove the activation hassles.
once again the browser PROCESSES IN THE BACKGROUND IF THAT OPTION IS SET. Once the processing is done it’s no more or less a resource hog than anything else on your system.

yes, it does. you can also turn off high quality previews if you don’t want the images to be color manages in high res.
I turned off background processing and high quality previews and it stopped running. Thank you.
you’re welcome. BUT, I let mine run and index everything overnight, and it runs fine now. Might be worth it…
just a thought. dave
