LCD Shuts OFF While loading an Image of >1 MB

I have to say this is one of the strangest problem I’ve ever seen.

This problem occurred on a Compaq laptop which meets/surpasses the Adobe Photoshop requirements.

The problem is simply this:

While attempting to load an image of (approximately) 1MB size and larger the laptop’s LCD shuts off (backlight shuts off & image disappears) HOWEVER the power indicator remains on and so do the fans.

I’ve tried doing a complete repartition and restore the factory software spec (using Compaq QuickRestore CDs) – Windows XP. Tried updating ATI Mobility drivers. Tested the memory – fine. NO CHANGE. Is there any limitations to Adobe Photoshop files that I should know about?

Is there any limitations to Adobe Photoshop files that I should know
about?

No. This is certainly a hardware or video driver issue somewhere. Check your BIOS power save and/or AGP window size settings if you can. Check for a video driver update from HP.
