Earlier while using Photoshop I think I inadvertantly pressed something that has ‘turned off’ the shortcut keys, ctrl+x, ctrl+c etc.

How do I make these work again or have I done something else that is affecting this process.

Yah, I think it might be the activation that got turned off :-).

There are dozens of related posts, try doing a forum search on the topic.
