Not sure if this is a bug, but when I want to add "Save Optimized as" to my action in Imageready 7 the action disregards the "as" option and by default overwrites the source file.

This is incredibly frustrating – please someone tell me that I’m doing something wrong, because I’ll just be too dissapointed if this is indeed a bug.

Before modifying your images, convert (Save As) them to PSD or TIF. That way you won’t overwrite and if you have been doing "saves" as past of your workflow, it will give you a higher quality final image as repeatedly saving a Jpeg lowers the quality.

Adriaan,

Just change the destination directory.

but wait a second … save AS should NEVER overwrite the source file …

Adriaan,

Sorry I was reading it as Photoshop and thought it was an Automated Batch job.

Unfortunately your only option may be to make sure your source files aren’t JPG’s or GIF’s as Larry suggested.

GH,

True, but there are a lot of things that should work, but don’t when they are in actions.
