I have a solid color square filled using foregound color. How can I make this square color to become gradient color?

When I use gradient layer, its not the same foregound color I want. How can I change the gradient color to the foreground color?

Thank you, Jen

Janet, when you click on the gradient tool, then click on the gradient in the options bar, make sure that you choose the foreground to background gradient (on my computer it is the one in the upper left corner of the palette. Or, foreground to transparent if that is what you want.
