I have extracted part of a photo in Photoshop 5.5 and saved it (in esp)in order to eliminate the background and superimpose the extracted part on top of a background in PowerPoint. When I import the photo into my PowerPoint presentation, it still has the original-size background rectangle, now filled with white, which blocks out what is behind it. How can I eliminate that white rectangle so that I can superimpose the extracted part on top of the PowerPoint background?

Thanks.

How are you saving the file? What version of PowerPoint.

The more recent versions support tranparent TIFF and PNG files.

Save the Power Point slide template you’re using into a file as a .jpg and open it into Photoshop. On a copy of your image, just replace the background with the template. Then insert your new image into PowerPoint as an Adobe Photoshop Image OBJECT.

You can set a colour to be transparent in PowerPoint. Look on the picture toolbar [I think].

The more recent versions support tranparent TIFF <<

…..and earlier ones recognized an alpha as a trasparency mask in TIFFs.
