casting shadows on itself

hi all!

what can i do to make photoshop cast a shadow of a 2d-object that looks like a crumpled piece of paper, on itself. with this i would like to create a better 3d feeling.

Use the Lighting Effects filter. In it, select a texture channel e.g. the RED channel. And make the height towards the ‘mountainous’ value.
