My main monitor (Sony 400PS) is getting tired and recent reports have me hungering to replace it with an HP L2335:

What’s the consensus in the graphic arts community these days concerning LCD’s for production work?

I do not think ther is already a consensus.

With regard to the monitor you chose: Make sure to connect via DVI, the digital-analog-digital conversion would reduce image quality.

I recently added a 17" 1280×1024 LCD screen as my principal monitor, with the older 19" Trinitron relegated to things like Photoshop. I haven’t tried to correct the LCD screen yet, but it’s *really* bad. Sometimes highlighting on lists is hard to discern.

The LCD is an Hitachi CML175SX, with both analog and digital (which I’m using) inputs. I like the sharpness, but there’s no color adjustment, just brightness which I’ve cranked all the way down. I’ll try Adobe Gamma on it when I get a round tuit.

Hopefully the HP you mentioned is more suitable.

Don’t bother. Gamma doesn’t work with LCD screens.
