This is somewhat OT, but hopefully you’ll indulge me, as someone here must know about this.
If I want to grab an image, that I can see on a Web page, I either point at the image and click the little floppy disk button or right-click and select Save Picture As. OK so far. Then I have a Save dialog box, which gives me the default filename of "untitled" and a file type of BMP. I can then save just fine.
But this isn’t right. This happens with a JPEG or a GIF [so I suppose IE converts]; I can check its full URL using right-click and Properties. It should offer me the original file type and its base filename.
Any ideas? Have I set some option somewhere?
This is most frustrating.
I am using IE6 on Win2000.
