After six years publishing primarily through email, we’ve just released the first issue of our Scriptorium Update newsletter to be presented entirely on the web. As usual it features articles and info on graphic design, plus a free font to download and try out. The new format allows us to present a lot more content in a more attractive way and makes the newsletter very easy to access.

The featured article in this issue is an examination of some of the shortcomings of Adobe’s Photoshop CS. It’s a bit of a rant, but still useful if you’re considering upgrading to the leading edge of graphic design software.

The featured font is Albrecht Durer Gothic, based on the lettering of the famous artist of the Northern Renaissance. It’s available to download and try out for free.

Feedback and suggestions on the design would be welcomed.

The newsletter is at http://www.fontcraft.com/scriptorium/update.html

A bit of a rant? I’d say it is more of a confession of silly habits. The author clearly does not need CS. He should revert.

On the other hand, I do truly appreciate your fonts and site.

First, nice fonts.

As to the article – well, I would have spellchecked it before publication, but there you go.

As to the contents. Really, would you design fonts (vector) in Photoshop (bitmap)?

What the article told me was that the person who wrote it:

a. Doesn’t need PS and,
b. Hasn’t a clue about what Photoshop is used for.
