I have discovered that when I open a pdf that was created with pagemaker in Photoshop 10 the image size is not correct. If I open a 3.5 x 2 inch pdf, Photoshop has it shown as 2 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall. It seems unable to recognise portrait vs landscape. So far the work around I have been using is to change the dimensions to what they are supposed to be but I was wondering if there was another, faster way I could fix this issue.

Question: Why are you doing this?

It is part of our workflow. The Program we use for setup and imposition can only use Tif files. We open the pdfs in photoshop to create a black and white bitmapped tif to place into our composition program. Yes I know indesign is better yada yada, we are planning to go that route eventually but for now we need to use our compostion program for reorders and the like.

There is a bug in Photoshop CS3 that it does not properly handle the width/height correctly for PDF pages that have been rotated 90 or 270 degrees (the thumbnail and resulting image will be correctly oriented, but the height/width fields should be switched and they aren’t.)

It sounds like this may be your situation, in which case your workaround is the correct action.
