Does anyone know of any text plugs-ins for Elements 2.
Preferably free.
The text seems so boring – must be my limitations, a shadow only ever comes out grey for instance.

Phil,

Not quite sure what you mean by text plug ins.

Elements uses the fonts you already have on your PC but you can add on many more. Try <http://www.eknp.com/fonts/a1.php>

To make your text different try a layer style on them … either the ones that Elements comes with or for others take a look at <http://share.studio.adobe.com/Default.asp> … look under the Photoshop styles as most of them work in Elements.

Phil,

Forgot to say:

In Elements you don’t get the option to change the colour of the drop shadow … but there is a works around.

Duplicate your text layer
Make the lower layer the colour you want your drop shadow Do Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur … this softens the outline (change the radius until you get the effect you want)
Use the move tool to offset your "drop shadow"

Phil,

The Adobe Studio Exchange has lots of Styles, Brushes, Custom Shapes etc … it is well worth a visit. Most things that are for Photoshop 7 and below will work (except Actions)

Photoshop CS is slightly different so things written for CS may or may not work … you just have to try them and see. (Brushes for CS definately don’t work in Elements 2)
