ImageReady optimized seems to revert to previous image

In my latest project when trying to save optimized in ImageReady it reverts to a previous version of the image with slices moving and layer properties reverting. Very frustrating. I think I am working close to the limit of the file size that Image Ready can work with. Is this a known problem? Image Ready also refuses to save the slices as jpg’s even after changing the pref’s. Is this normal?
