I have Photoshop CS3 and added the plugin for the favicon. All was working well and went to use it again and it isn’t showing up when you do a "save as". The format isn’t in the drop down list.

Is there something I have done wrong? or should have done?

Thanks,
Vicki

No plugin needed, really. Though if you absolutely insist on outputting a Windows .ico file you should go that way.

Just save out as a png or gif and name it "favicon.ico"

Here’s mine (it’s a png):

I just tried saving some files I have open to ICO format.

I find that the file has to be smallish, or the ICO format is not available. I don’t know what the max resolution is, but that shouldn’t be too hard to find out.

If I remember last time I used the .ico format, there is a maximum resolution you can use it up to.

Try reducing the pixels and see if it works.

Using PNG or GIF is incorrect.

You can use my ICO plugin to create files in the correct format: <http://telegraphics.com.au/sw/#icoformat>

Happy Software Freedom Day!!

@Gareth: Correct, ICO cannot store images > 256 pixels in either dimension. It also cannot store 16 bit/pixel images, or modes other than Bitmap, Grey Scale, Indexed or RGB.
