In 10.4.11 I have no problems installing in, it just works.

Hardrive is just fine, I know that, it has been tested with apple hardware test. This is so amateur…!

I had no problems installing PS CS3 on my 2 Leopard machines. While I do not know what is causing your difficulty, 10.5 alone can not be the issue.

Well my mac is reformatted just a week ago, I had the same problem before I formatted too. But why does it work in 10.4?

Stianstiansen,

I see your OS is apparently in another language (Norwegian?). Is it possible some conflict with the non-English OS?

Also CS3 was designed and released before 10.5 was released. Apple made some major changes that don’t play all that nice with CS3. Apple is making the fixes in their system updates.

Yes, that‘s correct, norwegian language. So is my 10.4.11, I doubt that‘s the problem. I know that if I install ps in 10.4, and upgrade the OS to 10.5, ps will work just fine. So I guess the problem is like you said, Buko, Apple has made some changes in the os.

It’s become fashionable for a few in this forum to blame Leopard for every problem, which is nonsense. Did you have problems installing in 10.5 Buko?)

I didn’t … on 2 separate Leopard machines.

Part of the problem is that we aren’t actually looking over the shoulders of those who have these problems — it is the bane of any remote tech support.

There could be something in the configuration of the machine itself that we aren’t being told or can’t see. Is it Leopard, the application installation, or conflict with another application or utility…? Maybe.

Naturally. However, automatically blaming the OS is not the solution.

Clearly it’s not "Leopard" as a couple of us have demonstrated. Otherwise, this forum would be filled with "can’t install PSCS3 in Leopard" posts and that’s simply not the case – not to mention Adobe would be up to their eyeballs in lawsuits since they list CS3 as compatible with 10.5. (my CS3 installs were successfully loaded onto virgin installs of 10.5 – I never "upgrade" the OS.)

Could it be something in this specific config that’s creating a conflict? Of course! And that’s my point – convincing people that any problem where Leopard is involved is because of Leopard is simply spreading FUD.

In the screenshot, I see a couple of apps running during the install that I don’t recognize – while I don’t always follow this advice, it’s never a good idea to have other applications running during an install. It very well could be that’s the problem. Don’t forget too that this is the demo he’s trying install – perhaps there’s an issue hiding in that.

I still wouldn’t discount an issue with the English install of the demo into the OS which is in a different language – maybe a font conflict.

the Creative Suite Forum has more of this type of complaint than I’ve seen in the individual forums although they are there. Of all the app forums I pop into Photoshop seems to be the least problematic and InDesign seems to be the worst. If I did not need to depend on InDesign I would most likely be using Leopard all the time. It works very nicely on my laptop.

I strongly suspect an illegal character (Norwegian "special" character, maybe?) anywhere in the path (like the hard drive’s name), or a case-sensitive formatted hard drive, which Photoshop doesn’t like.
