There’s a beta release of Noise Ninja 2.0 for OS X 10.28 and higher. There are noise profiles available for a variety of digital cameras.

My digital images so far have no appreciable noise, but this afternoon I might try taking some photographs at ISO 3200 and give this program a try.

It’s good for the compact cameras where noise can be very distracting at higher ISOs. It will be better when the promised PS plug in eventuates. You do get some loss of detail, but not as much as other methods I’ve tried; and once you’ve learned how to tweak it, eg by targeting higher (or lower) levels of noise reduction at particular colours and using the undo brush to restore lost detail it’s better still. It makes it possible to consider using ISO above 50 on a compact digicam as an option for photographs that you can’t get any other way.

Buko,

The Pentax *ist-D digital SLR. Dumbest name in the history of cameras, but one heck of a performer.
