"arrange icons by…" in Open dialog box

using photoshop elements 2.0 in Windows XP — after I click "open" and right-click to access "arrange icons by" no matter how many times I change it to "name" the next time I "Open…" the list reverts back to reverse "modified". Any ideas? Could it be a registry problem? Thank you.

maybe you need to do this with Explorer and then in the Folder Options set it to remember that display type

This is a bug in Microsoft. Check out

It turns out that outlook express for whatever reason sometimes corrupts the file order in the open file dialog box. The change in sort order is permanent. There is a fix posted on
