Neon effect

I can figure out how to make a neon effect that has a glow around it by using the layer styles. However, I want to make a neon effect like a real neon light that is chrisp around the edges. Any ideas?

There is some glow inwardly but the outer edges of the neon’s are chrisp – that’s the effect I want.

One I like is CSP Neon. I found it at Adobe Studio Exchange under layer styles but there are also many other Neon Styles available there.

Anna,
I have a CD with book called "Photoshop Elements One Click Wow" by Davis and Dayton. Purchased it at Amazon. It has many styles, including a series titled GLOWS, NEON & HALOS. There are also many frames, gradients, etc. that one can apply with ease. It was not expensive. Perhaps you can look at it at your local outlet, else on Amazon web site. Hope this helps.
