The print output (Canon 950i) has visible pixel breakup. What am I doing wrong?

Sound like your resolution is set too low. Check what it says in the resize dialog. I’ll bet it’s 72 ppi. For inkjet prints, you should be in the 200 to 300 range. I haven’t looked it up, but 250 should come pretty close to 5×7 for a 2 megapixel image without resampling. I’d start there and adjust as needed; You’ll need to crop to size.

Other people can comment if this sounds inaccurate, but I think a simple method is:

* Open image>resize>image size.
* Uncheck the "resample image" box
* Change the width or height to your desired measurement * Take a look at the resolution – if it is around 200-300, you should probably get a good print.

Good luck.

P with a 2 megap 240 res will give you a 5 X 7.5

Then, you can use the rec marquee at a fixed 5 X 7 and crop off the extra .5 which is really nothing.

Click Image on the menue tool bar. Go to Resize>Image Size.

Deselect the Constrain Proportions check box.
Select the Resample Image check box.
Select Bicubic from the drop-down-list.

Increase the Pixel Dimensions, both Width and Height.
Increase the Document Size, both Width and Height.
Incease the Resolution to approximatly 300ppi.
