I’ve had a quick play with it, and got both ok and very poor results, but obviously at this stage I’m blaming the driver…

Just wondering with practice and experience is this a competent tool for panos or is a specialized piece of software recommended?

Thanks,
Mark

Keep at it.
IMHO this is an excellent tool, and the flexibility of assembling the pano using layers in Photoshop can’t be beat.

If the results are not good, it’s usually because you rotated the camera around the wrong point. Rotation should be done around the nodal point of the lens, not around the back of the camera (where the tripod is usually mounted). Rotation around the wrong point can create differences in perspective that are very difficult, if not impossible, to deal with for the pano software.
