Hello,
I’m creating all of the art assets for an upcoming sci-fi shareware game. The sprites will be created in a 3d application and will appear in the game as pre-rendered sprites (tga) with an alpha channel for transparency. The enemy units will be "electrified" so I will need to add an electricity effect to the sprites (similar to those novelty glass plasma balls or Dr. Frankensteins lab).
The animated sprites will be roughly 15 frames each. Each frame will have it’s own alpha channel. I will most-likely "hand-draw" the electricity on each successive layer. The problem I anticipate is that the electricity will not have a perfectly matched alpha channel for each frame. In other words, I can draw the electricity on each layer but it probably won’t appear in the game because the alpha channel created by my 3d application during rendering will block it out.
If someone can at least point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
