Recently I have had problems trying to save images, the sort of thing that I have not encountered before. I open a new image (from my digital camera that has been downloaded to a file on my auxillery hard drive). I open the image (lets call it 1234.jpg), make a few changed (crop, rotate, curves, etc.) Then I try to use "Save as" to save the image with a new name (for example newpic1.jpg). I get the warning message: Could not save as "E:\…\…\newpic1.jpg" because that document is currently open. Save using a different name, or close the document and try again.
I know the document is open, I am trying to save it with a new name. Photoshop is treating it as if I have already saved it. If I close it, I think I will lose all of the changes I have made.
So, could I have some preference pointed in the wrong direction? (I have checked the preferences under Edit but can’t find anything obvious). I have looked in the manual, checked my how-to books and the like, but just can’t seem to find the problem and the fix. I just want to be able to save the image with a new name.
Thank you for your help on this.
