I’m using Photoshop 7 to make the graphics for my company’s website. I need to know if it’s possible to gradually set the opacity of a layer; that means, if it’s possible to e.g. make it full opaque at the center of the image, and then be less and less opaque until it’s fully transparent at the edges of the layer. If this is doable, how do I do it?

Any input appreciated in advance!

Add a layer mask to the layer you’re currently working on, then apply a gradient from black to white within the layer mask.

Also, you can use the marquee tool (circle, square), set your feathering to the proper pixels (You’ll need to experiment), make your selection, Select>Inverse, cut.

Make sure that the layer is unlocked first.
