Hi,
I have russian and english version of photoshop. The russian version is 6 and english is 7. Tried both. The issue is that when I type russian language, it appears as symbols.
I tried all I could through regional setting and language setting but didn't help. The same is with Macromedia flash.
WinXp prof.

Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks.

Just to clarify what you've said...you cannot type in Russian in the Russian version 6 of Photoshop?

Is your WinXP Pro English or Russian?

If you can't type in another language, it's usually because of something in your operating system, not the application unless the application has specifically been set up to disallow multiple languages in an attempt to protect the native market. I don't have experience with Russian but I do have experience with Japanese and Chinese. Adobe does not seem to incorporate such protection for those languages so I'm guessing they probably don't for Russian.

I have some guesses about what may be wrong:

1. The Russian fonts are not recognized by Photoshop for some reason. Perhaps it can only recognize Postscript versions. Have you tried different Russian fonts to see if that makes a difference?

Also, make sure that the font isn't swapping after you begin to type for some unknown reason. Select the symbols you're getting and choose the font again to test this.

2. When you launch Photoshop, the keyboard may be switching to English input. After you launch it, double-check which keyboard is enabled in the task bar to make sure you're inputting in Russian. Also, make sure that your default keyboard is Russian.
