On some systems I can set the defualt printer to another printer and when I print I then select the printer I want to print too, wiht no issues but if the printer in question is the default printer then CS4 just crashes. The Printer is a Ricoh 3260C. The printer is a network printer connected to a print server. Users have Admin rights on the local PC. If anybody has any ideas on this problem I could use some help. I have removed and reinstalled driver a few times with no luck. Even tried going back to old driver as well still no luck. All other adobe products seem to work fine.

Thanks

This is an IT question, not a Photoshop question.
There are too many variables here without enough information for even a knowledgeable IT person to answer.
I can only presume you are administering your own small business p2p network.
If you are administering your own small business network it may help to hire an independent IT person to walk you through the basics. Configuring a network print server is not always straight forward. It sounds like your problem has to do with how the print server is configured rather than drivers or the settings on individual computers.
It may be easier for you to attach the printer to a computer and share it that way rather than a network port in order to have more stable connections to the device.

if the printer in question is the default printer then CS4 just crashes

Well, make some other printer the default

this may be accomplished by using an Adobe Generic Printer Driver < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=p drv&platform=win>

Thanks for the help John but the problem is not that simple. One of my users now has no printer loaded when he starts Photoshop. when he starts it it says please install print drivers. I have uninstalled photoshop with no luck. Since this printer is the primay printer for the Art department I need it to print to that printer. I am using a standard PCL5 driver which is from 2008. there are no newer drivers I have also found that if I change the orientation (portrait or landscape) of the print then it will also print fine. If anybody has any ideas please let me know

Thanks

Even with no printer installed there are still a couple of virtual printers installed with windows, try changing between them as the default printer

As I said, and provided a link, install a "dummy" printer to be default… then (as you said) select the printer you want when ready to print

Ok,

Virtal printers do not work tried a PDF one, tried a microsoft one. Installed another network printer which is Post Script as well.

This is not a network issues as the person and everybody eles can print to the printers all other adobe programs work fine Illistrator works find JPG. This is a PhotoShop issue. It seems in Photoshop I can print PDF from it but when I try to print a JPG or a Photoshop file it then says no printer found.
