Photoshop 6.0, windows xp professional. Adobe customer service cannot give me the six digit number to complete the installation on my new computer. In fact, customer service suggested that I come to the forum for help. Can anyone help me get the six digit number that I need so that I can complete the installation?
Thanks,
Bob

Robert: All that is required is the SN, do you not have that? That number is not six digits.

There should be a sticker on the CD case or the box that has a set of numbers. There are six sets of 4 numbers, the first set being 1057
You are looking for something like
1057 1234 5678 9012 3456 7890
{this is an example it will not work.}

And I suspect the OP is using Photoshop Elements.

The CD that I am reinstalling from is an upgrade CD. It is what I was supplied with from Adobe when I bought PS originally. I have been told that the serial number that I have is for a full version, not an upgrade. I don't know why this is. When installing from the upgrade CD, it goes to a screen that tells you to call Adobe and give them the six digit number and they will in turn give you a six digit number that apparently unlocks the cd and allows it to then install a full version of PS 6.0 It is the six digit number that is confusing the customer support people that I have talked to. This was not a problem when migrating from old computers to new computers previously. Seems to be a problem for them now.

When did you get this CD?
Photoshop has never had a 6 digit number as Bob said it is most likely Photoshop Elements.

Probably because Photoshop 6 is such an old version. I thnk tey have changed their procedures since then. What are you upgrading from? Do you have an earlier version on that machine?

My original Photoshop 2.5.1 had 3 letters and 14 numbers this worked through PS6. PS7 started the new 24 digit numbering system. The 17 character serial worked with upgrades as well as the original purchase.
Robert must have Elements (I don't have it so I don't know how numbers in the serial) but I've never heard of a serial to get a serial.

And all of this overlooks the fact: What is Adobe customer service doing sending people here to get serial numbers?

Well if Robert was trying to get someone to give him a serial, maybe telling us that is his way of making us feel good about it.
