CS3 - XP 64 bit...
Open a picture...change mode to greyscale..the image shows as sepia...even the color picker shows it as a tint...prints as sepica...save for web...the preview shows the picture as b/w!...
Any ideas folks?

Point 1 XP64 is not supported although it may work.
the image shows as sepia
Where?
the preview shows the picture as b/w!
What preview?
(Sounds like your monitor needs calibrating.)

Take a colour image, image/mode/convert to greyscale...the result is sepia...
then go file/save for web & devices...the preview is b/w...save and view in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer...b/w...reopen in PS...sepia
no, do not need my monitor calibrated...
Uninstalled and reinstalled PS...same thing...

Your monitor profile (.icc or .icm file) is corrupt. Recalibrate/profile the monitor.
PS is colour managed, so it displays images using a monitor profile.
Non C/M applications don't use this profile, instead directly map the RGB values to the screen.

You wasted your time.
Why is it so many people go through all that hassle when the correct fix, be it re-calibrate, reset tool or reset preferences, is so much easier?
