Monitor profile is defective

I used to have Photoshop 6.01 and never had this problem. However since i have upgraded to 7.01 everytime i start the program i get an error message that tells me that my monitor profile is defective and to rerun my monitor calibration software. then gives me the optionto ignore profile or use anyway. The monitor never came with any calibration software. What does this mean and what do i do? Please help ASAP. Thank you very much in advance.

Run Adobe Gamma, pick a profile OTHER than your display profile as a starting point (becuase the current one is defective).
