I’m new to photoshop.

I have a few pictures that are a bit out of focus. Does photoshop have a way to sharpen them? If so, what version is best, what options work best? etc.

Under PS the first thing u can try is using under the "effect" menu the function "sharpen"

Unsharp masking is the usual way, but it depends on how out of focus they are. You might not be able to save them at all if they’re truly blurry. You can avoid getting ugly ‘halo’ effects around objects from oversharpening if you convert your picture to LAB mode, select the L (luminance) channel and sharpen only that (rather than all channels) and then change it back to RGB mode when you’re done. There’s also some commercial packages that do a better job that photoshop, such as extensis’ intellihance, which you can get a demo of from their web page www.extensis.com
