CS3 – Available to Download Now?!

I have CS3 for Vista preordered at amazon…but I saw today that adobe says I can purchase the downloadable upgrade version right now for the same price…and it would seem that I can download it now?! Is that true? Has CS3 been offically released for download from adobe? Or will buying the downloadable version now only let me download it on April 20th?

Is there ANY difference at all between what is included with this and the retail box? It seems kinda slim at just over 700mb…

The CS3 upgrade has been "available" for downloading since the beginning of April. I ordered it at the time… but had to wait until yesterday (17th) to actually download it! It takes about 30 min to download. After that, it takes 30 min to install. Now, I have a question: I thought that buying and installing an upgrade would remove the old version (CS/8.0), but the old version is still there. I’d like to remove/uninstall the old version, but I’m afraid that the process would also remove CS files and/or registry entries that the CS3 upgrade might be using. Any idea?

Adobe Upgrades always install to their own folder – that way you can run both versions until you are happy with and have confidence in the new version.

When you are ready to remove the old version, you can do so – just say ‘No’ to removing any shared files or folders.

You may also wish to ensure that you have moved any custom brushes, actions etc, over to the new version before removing the old one.

Great! Thanks LenHewitt! I’ll do as you say, but I’m already "sold" on CS3. Believe it or not, I never saw CS2, and the first thing that struck me with CS3 is the RAW plugin. Thanks again!
