I am using Photoshop 6.0. When I take the black and white scanned image, and return it to "Photoshop", the result is a that there are horizontal lines through the entire photo (but there was no problem in the scanned view) – (these photos are very old – 50-60 years). I did increase the resolution to 600 DPI, and that helped somewhat. Any suggestions?

Sounds like it might be a scanner fault. Certainly if the lines are always running in the same direction regardless of the print’s orientation.

Use <http://www.pixentral.com> to let us see what the problem is.

Try rotating the image 90 degrees on the scanner bed, rescan…also try scanning in a different area of the scanner.
