I’m one of those who positively hate it, not because it’s on the web, I do have a pretty fast connection, but because the Help file itself is very paltry and the search function just about utterly worthless.
If for whatever reason it bothers you to have to connect to the Internet, you can download the whole PDF to your local hard drive and disconnect yourself from the web. Most inconvenient.
The one advantage is that it can be updated dynamically, as was the case when ACR 5.2 came out with very substantial enhancements.
I can’t even remember the last version of Photoshop that had a halfway decent manual. :/
Well, v2 came in a huge heavy-board slipcase, weighed about 10 lb, and had a couple of good manuals and the app on a handful of floppies, as I recall. <g>

Though I only go back to Photoshop version 5, I do remember the size of the packages from the early days. I Still have the Adobe Illustrator 5 box sitting on a shelf. It’s big enough to hold a toaster oven inside. 😀
The only problem with the reforestation programs is the monocultures they plant, which are ecologically unsound. Yet, it’s better than the clueless land developers, ranchers and exotic wood dealers. Even some homeowners seem to have been on this kick of using pavers over the entire plot instead of grass, shrubs and trees.
