I am using PS 7.0.1. When I start PS up I get a message that says,

"Updating Adobe Compenents from Adobe.com
Downloading File 1 of 2…
No personal information is being transmitted
File: AWEXFiles.txt
To: Macintosh HD:Library:Application:Support:Adobe:Web"

But, nothing happens. I have to force quit. Then, when I try to boot up again the same thing happens over and over.

HELP!

Thanks

Jay,

That’s a well known bug related to problems at the Adobe server.

There are two ways to solve it:

1.– Temporarily disconnect from the Internet, launch Photoshop, set the Online Preferences to NEVER look for updates, then reconnect to the Internet; or, alternatively,

2.– Take out the Adobe Online folder to disable it.

Since you have had to force quit Photoshop, it’s imperative you Repair Permissions with Apple’s Disk Utility.
