Illustrator files don’t place in Photoshop 7

When I place a illustrator eps file in photoshop I get a blank layer. Any solutions?

Knowing the exact versions of your OS X (or 9,x) and Photoshop (7.0.1?) would be helpful.

illustrator .ai are placing but not .eps.
OS X 10.3.3
Illustrator 10.0.3
Photoshop 7.0.1
