Firstly, what a great program Adobe CS is!

Now for the question: I have tried to use photomerge with a number (5) of jpgs (aprox 2 megs each), and apparently, CS "does not like it". It first asks to convert to 8 bit, and then it makes two different files. It is running on a machine with 1 gig of ram (and a Xeon 1.7 processor) and Windows Server 2003. How can I overcome the degradation to 8 bit? In order to get one big image, do I recursively merge? Will I have even worse luck working with the corresponding (CR2) Raw files? I am using a Canon 20 D

Next question: I am in the process of building a new computer (I mostly do programming work and SQL Server). Is there any reason to look to a 64 bit processor for Photoshop work? I will be installing 2 gigs of ram, would that take care of the problems mentioned above?

TIA,

Paolo
