CS4 Serial Number Problem

Hi all
I purchased a copy of CS4 Extended privately 6 months ago,with a 30 day warranty. Installed and activated fine
on XP Pro SP3 - I de-activated and reinstalled on Win 7 Prof 64 bit this week and as it refused to accept the serial number I contacted Adobe support (in India) and they told me that the serial no did not come up on their database, they didnt say so in as many words but I assume they mean it is counterfeit. How can this be after all that time?

Can anyone shed any light on this as Adobe don't want to know apparently.

I had a similar problem. Tell India that you need to speak to a customer service person who will, once he's persuaded you're genuine, issue a new serial number. Took me 2 months to get my CS4 up and running, but I got there in the end.

Don't give up!

This is not intended as a reflection on you, but I'd say a batch of serial numbers got poached somewhere between the distributor and retailer, sold on eBay or one of the on-line stores that specialize in software with a checkered past, and Adobe yanked the numbers from their database.

This happens all the time with Curvemeister. I don't yet have activation, and would prefer not to, but when a serial number gets "out there" I always pull it from the database, and refuse updates. Many of these are serial numbers that have made it to the online shops that charge their customers money, and have no arrangement with me, essentially selling stolen property to people who are understandably looking for a bargain.

Adobe Support use fax a lot, so get the support fax number, photocopy all your receipts and other proof of purchase onto a few sheets and write a cover letter with your situation.

Fax it all in and demand they fix the issue immediately.

Been there done that with software directly purchased from Adobe! I was very nervous about deactivating CS4 from one installation to install it under Windows 7: fortunately no problems.

You may have purchased a bogus product.

either the cd is original or not, if not you pretty much been duped.
