Photoshop Tiff / Jpeg question

I converted a canon raw file to tiff. I opened the tiff file in Photoshop and went to save the file as a jpeg, but I did not see that option in Photoshop CS.

If I open a jpeg file in Photoshop, I can save it as a jpeg.

I opened the tiff file in Photoshop Elements and I can save it as jpeg, but I can not do it in Photoshop.

I don’t understand why I can not save the tiff as a jpeg in Photoshop.

Am I doing something wrong, or did I miss a setup somewhere?

Thanks.

You didn’t convert the tiff to 8 bit first.

Thanks.

Suggestion: Get and read Ben Willmore’s book "Photoshop CS Studio". It explains a lot.

JPEGs will not save layers. Only psd, pdf and tiff will. Perhaps you need to flatten the layers first if you want to save as a jpeg. However, just to be safe you may want to first resave as a tiff or psd.
