Issue: Creating/Writing Macros

Activity: I need to create macros to handle repetitive tasks. Specifically, there are many instances when 30 to 50 digital photos need to be resized to a set width, then saved for web in a new folder. Can someone get me started in where to find the tools to write a macro for those sorts of tasks? Also, any suggestions on the syntax to use? Thank you.

what you want to do is create a "photoshop action"

try google for "create photoshop action",
and in photoshop you will want "show actions" to see the defaults… there is a little "record" button at the bottom, whatever you do while recording becomes your new macro. you can also insert things manually with the little black arrow on the actions palette, under "insert menu item"

Hi, if i understand your question, you have 30 to 50 pics you want to resize in a batch.

To do that, you need to have an "Action" (eg. record a macro) and then set the photoshop batch options. As a subset you may wish to create cropping sizes and or sampling options.

Any standard enhancements (auto color correct, sharpening, filters..etc) can be incorperated in your Action.

The help file is well documented – under Actions>recording (1) (2)

For the Batch option under help – under B – Batch Command – Using the Batch command. Tells you how to set it up. Create some directories, etc.

Get conversant in it..if a problem with a specific…post a question. A very powerful set of features well worth learning.
