Hello people,
I am trying to create an animation of some wings flapping. I messed around with the perspective and distort options but couldnt get it to look good. Does anyone have a suggestion for manipulating an image to make it look like it is flapping. The wings I am trying to upload can be downloaded at <http://in-r8web.ivytech.edu/mberry25260/wings.psd>. Thank for any help
P.S If you would like to see what I created-click here <http://in-r8web.ivytech.edu/mberry25260/images/wings2.gif>

I also tried the photo shop animator and it actually has preset effects you can apply for animations and one of them was called compress and it created pretty good ones but it was so smooth and it was hard to configure the frames and speed right. check it out at <http://in-r8web.ivytech.edu/mberry25260/images/wings.gif>. Thanks for any help I am using ImageReady to create animations this I hope is the right tool for the job. Thanks again

You could select the wings individually and copy them and then rotate each copy attaching them to the body of the bird (sans wings) at various angles. If you do that make a large selection around the wing and then feather (value depends on how large the image is - maybe 5 to 10) that way it will blend better when you reattach the wing to the body.

When you cut the wings off the body, feather that too.

I'd suggest AfterEffects here. You could map the wing images to two planes then rotate them in 3D to mimic flapping. Render this sequence to whatever format you need in the end. Photoshop really isn't the best tool for this job and the results you got aren't likely to get much better.
