watermark-without change the appearance of the image

How can I add a watermark (name, signature, marker...) to an image without changing its appearance? Or at least the change should not be detectable to human eyes? I read too many toturials that show you how to put a hard tag on the image. Those kind of stuff is totally useless because it destorys the image at the same time.

You can see it fyou dump the file in a hex-editor. Sometimes a simple text editor will do. The purpose is rather after the fact to help demonstrate origin. I posted some time ago the two ways Photoshop creates and retains such information, and the one in which it does not. I cannot speak for CS.

Not only can you determine who was the original author, the technology will alert the copyright holder when his/her image appears on the internet. Of course this service costs money.

If someone heavily edits or (especially) highly recompresses your image in Jpeg, any watermark will be destroyed.

After having read the thread maybe what people need is copyright protection.

There is a product called c-Site that is less than 10$ and appears to be legit to me that submits all the forms and walks you through setup. and then gives you a graphic that shows that you are copy righted. http://tinyurl.com/2v78r
