I’m using CS2 – Adobe Photoshop Version: 9.0 (9.0×196) – with Windows XP Version: 5.1 Service Pack 2.

For no reason known to me, when I go to Photoshop Help in the Help menu, an "Adobe Help Center" item appears in the tray at the bottom of the screen and all the menu items grey out in PS, but the Help window doesn’t appear. Toggling the tray item does nothing.

First I tried restarting PS which didn’t help. Then I rebooted the computer which also didn’t help. So I put in the PS CD and selected the option to fix or repair (I forget the exact wording) the installation. It went through its thing for several minutes and then rebooted the computer. I restarted PS and have the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You should consider a complete reinstall.
At least once a quarter, a format my hard drive and reinstall only the stuff I need. Three months later it’s packed with scrap again. That is when I format everything.
(The value of a image program like Norton Ghost is highly under rated.)

have you tried defaulting the preferences folder?
control +shift +alt as it starts PS??
you can back it up by renaming it or temp dragging it to your desktop that way if there is other stuff you didn’t want to dump you will have it (brushes styles actions etc)

complete reinstall may not be necessary
when you reinstall it keeps the preferences folder in tact

A complete reinstall is the last resort of a scoundrel.
