photoshop takes up all my resources

hey there. i my system specs are as follows ::

MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
GEIL 512mb pc3200 [400]
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
ISO Switching Power Supply
Western Digital 120 gig [WDC WD1200JB-75CRA0] – IDE Port 1 ATAPI CD-RW52XMAX – IDE Port 2
XP 2002 w/ SP 1 and all critical updates Installed

photoshop seems to be automaticaly taking up 100% of my cpu when i run it on my computer and it never used to…. just sort of does it… i dont even need anyhting open in it… its strange… any suggestions? i have the page file on a seperate partition as my windows one

Close the file browser, and disable background processing for the file browser.
