Hi all,

I am trying to create an icon for a CD-ROM. This icon with replace the icon of the CD-ROM in Windows Explorer etc.

Ok Ive got the Icon loading but for some reason my white background always defaults to black!

How can I prevent this???

My icon is 32px x 32px saving as a BMP, Windows file format. 32bit depth. I then rename the file to myicon.ico

Any help would be great.

Sounds like early days of Mac Director palettes on Win boxes.

Mac and Windows system palettes reverse the locations of black & white (can’t remember which way round each is). Make sure you’re using the right OS’s palette.

An ICO file is not the same as BMP. You can create a proper ICO using my Photoshop format plugin, freely downloadable here <http://www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/#icoformat>. This should also fix your transparency problem.
